All Good Things Must Come to an End...

Now I know why bands don't stay together. Well, sort of. Okay, I really don't. But in my case, I've come to a point where I've got too many other things going on in my life to give them all up (or most of them) to be make my rock and roll band my first priority.

It seems the band's fame is spreading, and they're hoping to sign up for multiple gigs every weekend. Well, I'm a "one gig a month" type of guy, so unless I can commit to more, I'm getting the boot. Hey, it was a fun while it lasted, from our humble beginnings in my living room, to the regular practices at Bruce's, on to my wedding and the East Bay live music circuit. Now, I can tell my kids I was a ROCK STAR!!! Party on Wayne? Party on Garth!

Catch my last sit-in with the band at The Crown (Danville), November 5th, 2006.

And to think I got through the really tough times, when I was working overseas and always making room for band practice when I came back home for my long weekend each month. I even kept a spare guitar and mini-keyboard (a short-lived dream of being the next rock pianist) in my apartment in The Netherlands. I hope those things bring a pretty penny on eBay...maybe if I autograph them???

Well, I guess I'll have to make it on my own as a solo part-time artist now. So, instead of becoming part of the next "Beatles", it looks like I'll be the next Beatle...nevermind.

I'm becoming quite the carpenter

So, having rolled off my project out of town, I've been hanging out at home more than I ever have. With a bit of spare time, I decided to hunker down and invest in some power tools (they just seem to be something a real man should own, right?).

Why didn't someone tell me wood was SO EXPENSIVE??? Here I am trying to make a bookshelf, and spending twice as much in raw materials than a pre-made bookshelf from Home Depot! Okay, well, maybe I should state two factors:
1) The pre-made bookshelf is particle board with veneers. My bookshelf will be made from solid wood.
2) In my cost, I'm including all the extra pieces of wood that I bought but I f&$#ed up.

So, maybe this ain't so bad after all.

Rockin in the East Bay

I'm a rock star!!! Literally! So, my band, The Rock O'Matics was pretty busy in September. We had four gigs in the East Bay, from Concord, to Alamo, to Danville and finally Pleasanton. Whew! I need a breather. It's a blast, so come check us out! Our schedule and info is on www.therockomatics.com. Sorry for plugging the band, but hey it's MY website (and I can cry if I want to, cry if I want to).

See ya soon!
